Community Cat Workshop

April 20, 2019 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Free

During this workshop, we will provide information on how you can help community cats. Learn how to make a difference for cats in your community! Join Frederick AdvoCats for an educational event with Alley Cat Allies, Frederick County Animal Control, Frederick Friends of Our County Animal Shelter, and Barn Buddies. Through an informative series of speakers, you’ll learn about their programs and how you can help community cats. We’ll cover the benefits of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and highlight the ways in which it benefits cats, animal shelters, animal control officers, and the community.

TNR is good for cats and our community. During TNR, community cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, eartipped (to indicate they have been neutered and vaccinated), and returned to their outdoor homes. TNR is a humane and effective approach to community cats. Studies show that TNR stabilizes community cat populations, reduces the number of cats killed in shelters, and saves local government money.
