Mason Dixon BBQ Services, Greencastle, PA announces the 9th Annual Ironman BBQ Challenge to be held on Saturday April 6th, 2019 at their location at 1542 Buchanan Trail East, across from Manitowoc on Rt. 16, in Greencastle, PA
This event is a Professional BBQ Competition, sanctioned by KCBS, and designated by Governor’s Proclamation to be the Pennsylvania State Championship BBQ Competition. As popularized on TV shows like BBQ Pittmasters, the BBQ Crawl, and Man, Fire Food; the Ironman BBQ Challenge will bring together over 45 professional teams from around the country competing for over $7,500.00 in awards and prizes.
In addition to the BBQ competition, Mason-Dixon BBQ Services will be holding the IRONMAN BBQ Festival. Demonstrators will be on hand cooking and demonstrating over a dozen different grills and smokers – handing out free samples to attendees and wowing the crowd with culinary delights. Highlighting the demonstrations will be the Big Green Eggfest. Eggheads from around the Mid-Atlantic will be coming together at the event to cook on Big Green Eggs and share recipes with grill enthusiasts.
The Ironman will be a great family event and entry is FREE for everyone! There will be BBQ vendors, demonstrations, children’s games and events, and music throughout the day. If past history is any gauge, the Ironman BBQ will bring in 2,000 – 2,500 BBQ enthusiasts from around the tri-state area.
To bring the community together, The Ironman will feature a People’s Choice Event where all of the Professional BBQ teams will smoke and sauce 10 lbs. of chicken wings; those wings will be offered as a tasting for attendees to vote on their favorite. All proceeds from The Wing Thing Event will directly benefit the American Cancer Society/Relay for Life of Greencastle, PA.
New for this year, and open to everyone who thinks that they can cook a steak, is our SCA sanctioned “Raising the Steaks Competition, held on Friday April 5th. Should be a fun way for the average backyard griller to get in on the competition and win some money!
